I spent a couple weeks in March 2024 in Penang. I probably won't be back, but there were some things about Penang I loved. The food here is maybe some of my favorite in the world.
This is the "downtown" of Penang. Great area to stay while in Penang. Plenty of eating, shopping, exploring to do in this area. This is where all the famous street art in Penang is.

Cititel Express Penang
Not sure why google reviews is a 3.9 here. Yes the rooms are small, but they're very nice and the accommodations for the price are much better than others similarly priced.
