Penang

Malaysia

Chew Jetty

Wooden stilt houses built on the water that date back to the 19th century that have mostly been converted to tourist shops. A little underwhelming to be honest, but they're cool to walk on and check out. If you're in Georgetown check them out for sure, but I doubt you're going to be blown away.

Armenian Street

Great area to walk around and explore the street art. Penang is world known for its street art.

The Olympic Gym

While I'm traveling I have to get some workouts in. Day pass is 15RM. Old school gym with everything you could ever need. The owner was a professional body builder back in his prime with a bunch of photos of him everywhere. Super nice guy. He'll make you a banana chocolate shake for an additional 6RM.

Penang Botanic Gardens

Who doesn't love a botanical garden. I'd advise going early to beat the heat. That's what I did.

Penang Hill

You can hike, but most take the tram up to penang hill. Great views of the city from up there. My friend and I ended up also purchasing a ticket to The Habitat while up there. There's some additional pathways and views you get with that ticket. You can snag that once up there.

Tropical Fruit Farm

Probably one of the coolest places I've ever been to. I had a scooter so getting there was no problem. Without a scooter, if you're staying in Georgetown, you'll have to taxi here. Did a tour while there - about an hour of walking around and trying various tropical fruits. The guide was super knowledgable and made the tour a delight!

Cat Beach Sanctuary

If you like kitties, you should visit here. Be careful it does stink of poop and there's a lot of flies. Make sure to donate a few bucks while you're there.
